Washtenaw County Road Commission is seeking qualified students for our Traffic Count Crew for the summer of 2021.  Students will work under the direct supervision of a civil engineer collecting data for our traffic count program.  Students will install traffic data collection tubes in the roadway and gather data from the tube counters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in the preparation of traffic data collection tubes.

  • Assist with the installation of traffic data collection tubes

  • Assist in the planning and preparation of routes for data acquisition.

  • Assist in the surveying of traffic data collection areas and compares locations based on traffic volume and road behavior.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Possess a valid Michigan Driver's License.

  • Preferable pursuing a degree in Engineering or Construction Technology and be an active student returning or enrolling in the fall of 2021.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, contractors and the general public.

  • Excellent attendance required, dependable transportation and good work ethic.

  • Physical ability to work in extreme weather conditions and cope with temperature and other environmental extremes in a moving highway work zone.

  • Solid understanding of computer software and hardware. Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office.

 The work schedule will be Monday Thursday 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
